2005 dodge ram 3500 cummins turning off while driving
i am having issues with the truck driving about 15 miles then it dies as if it ran out of fuel. it starts back up. if i accelerate it while driving it will go about 2 mile then looses power wont go faster then 50 mph and shuts down. i checked the turbo and fuel is coming out of fuel filter housing when i open the valve. i have no codes on the scanner. I'm loss on what is the issue. any help would be great. its a 2005 dodge ram 3500 cummins 5.9l

I had a similiar problem on my 99 last year. As I drove it was like someone was reaching over and turning the key off, but since my truck is a manual it would restart if i let off the gas pedal. It took awhile, but it did kick the check engine light. come to find out it was the tps. throttle position sensor

not positive on a 3rd gen, but on a second gen the TPS is on the engine. cables operate it, but it is just a sensor. does not physically move anything on the pump. throttle is all electronically controlled.
When i was messing around with my smarty and had the adrenalines high idle on, it messed with my TPS and got dead pedal then the truck just died while idling. threw two TPS codes.
reflashed back to stock and hasn't happened since. So a bad TPS can cause it to just shut down like you turned the key off. It's a safety build into the ECU to prevent uncontrolled throttling if the TPS begins to malfunction.
Personally I would much rather have the engine just shut off than the throttle stick wide open...
