SRT 10 PCM Question
I am new to the SRT section of this forum, I usually prowl the 2nd Gen section. But I just bought an '05 SRT10 QC and I love it. I wanted the 6 speed RC but having a backseat kinda won that arguement.
I have been doing a decent amount of homework on these trucks, and Im not too thrilled to learn that the QC model had a slightly detuned PCM as opposed to the regular cab.
My question is, would it be worth my time (or is it even possible) to take it to a dealer and have them reflash it to the RC specs? I dont know how the PCM works in these trucks but I cant imagine it would be that simple, but it doesnt hurt to ask...
If this wont work I am eventually going to buy some sort of tuner, most likely an SCT but its the difference of spending nothing at the dealership vs. spending $600 plus for the tuner.
If anyone can offer an opinion on this I would appreciate it!!

RC tune will not work in a QC truck.
SCT is a good choice, but I would start or follow up quickly with exhaust. If you can not do headers that is OK, but you need high flow cats (or no cats) with 3" mids and a cat back to wake up the truck and more importantly the sound. Have you took a look at your 4 cats yet?

Ha I figured it wouldnt be that easy... I know my 01 Ram like the back of my hand but this truck is a whole other ball game. I am planning to do an exhaust, just not sure what to get. I have heard a few sound clips of these trucks with different exhaust setups, and I dont like some of them, I want to keep it to a deep throaty tone. Some of the ones I've heard get a really shrill high pitched tone at the top end and I dont really care for that. From what Ive read in this section of the forum, you really know what your talking about, so I do appreciate your input.
So as far as suggestions on an exhaust, I'm all ears.
I am on a budget, so if I buy an exhaust and a tuner thatll have to keep me happy until my bank account agrees with a good set of headers.
Also, I really havent spent much time under the truck. I wasnt aware that it had 4 cats. I'm sure that getting rid of those and getting some high flows will make a huge difference.
Thanks for the help!

Save you a climb underneath.... Here is a stock shot. You can see the first driver side cat a little, the first passenger is fairly hidden in this pic. I will throw in a couple after pics.
For cat backs on a budget you have two choices, Magnaflow, which most get, and Flowmaster. I think the Flow is cheaper, but the Magnaflow is stainless steel.
Idle, keep in mind I have more under the hood and long tubes though.

A picture is worth a thousand words. And a video is worth alot more than that lol... I like that setup alot. Its very clean. I also like the way that sounds, it has the tone similar to what I would like to get. When I do it, Im going to go with the magnaflow. The flowmaster may be a few bucks cheaper but regardless of my budget, I like to get the better stuff.
What else besides an exhaust would you recommend that would liven it up a little? I mean its already got 500 HP but too much is never enough lol.
I know thats kind of an elementary question but I'm still not that familiar with this truck yet. And the SRT section in this forum isnt quite as extensive as the other truck categories.
Thank you for all your input, and I apologize for taking so long between replies. I work alot of hours and I'm not near my computer too often.
