Thinking of possibly getting SRT-10 in the future, few Q
After some thought, I really think a "sport truck" is right for me. I love speed, but I also like being higher up and the presence of a larger vehicle. I also have LOVED the look of the Ram ever since it's new design. The only think I am somewhat apprehensive about is it's aftermarket potential. I have seem some BIG HP Viper's and such so I know that these engines can make some big HP, but at what cost? I see that STS is working on a kit that I would think I would be very interested in since they price their turbo's very reasonably and have seen what they can do with LS1's.
My first question is is are how much can the stock blocks take? I am new to these V10's, I have always hung around SVT sites and those 03 Cobra's have forged internals which can take quite a beating. I don't ever recall reading that the Viper engines can claim the same. Are there any places where I can get forged internals but at a somewhat reasonable price? I am hoping to get at least 600rwHP, preferably more
Also, I think a supercharger would be more suitable for my application since I won't be doing a whole lot of racing and would love to have that power on tap on the street....tho I will be as responsible as humanly possibly with the gobs of power. I only know of Roe Racing's SC kit but they only seem to have a kit for the Viper, does anyone know of one for the Ram SRT's?
Any and all information is much appreciated. Am I looking at the wrong truck? Feel free to post any opinions on what you think would be the best application for me to go with. I will hopefully be in the market for a car in the next 1-2yrs. Thanks again for your help.

They don't get much sportier than an SRT-10. You're right, it's a blast to have this kind of performance and still ride up above most traffic. Hennessey and DC Performance have many performance upgrades and packages besides STS (they are done with the R&D and the turbo kit is ready) and Roe. Check out their respective websites for more info. Magnaflow, Gibson, Bellanger, Borla, B&G and many others are making parts for the SRT-10 truck as well. More and more stuff becomes available everyday and the prices for parts are dropping with competition and volume. Paxton S/C kits are making over 700 hp at the crank on a stock engine with 7 lbs of boost. The STS turbo should provide similar numbers and is adjustable from 4 lbs to 8 lbs of boost. The stock engine can handle that without any problems.
You're looking at the wrong truck if gas mileage is your primary concern. It's very thristy. But, I don't know of any one who has bought one that regrets it. The grin factor is off the charts. Many of the owners have and still have all kinds of performance vehicles from Vettes to Lightnings, Cobras to musclecars, Mercedes to Beemers, etc., and most of them say this truck is the most fun to drive. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply!
I think 700HP is going to be more than enough for me to handle. Do you have any idea how much the supercharger kit is going to run? How about that STS Turbo? Seems like forced induction on these V10's are inflated like a mother. 11G's for a S/C kit is what I've seen. If that's what it's going to take, I might have to look at the LS2 and make that kind of HP to the rear wheels for that amount of money....tho like I said, I really love this truck.
As far as gas mileage goes, pretty much everything isn't fuel efficient enough these days....lol. Altho I would LIKE it to get 70MPG, that's never going to happen, hahahaha.
-EDIT- Just found a place that sells it for 6.5.....not bad at all. Now, is there anywhere that I can find a forged bottom end that won't have me living in my car for the next 3 yrs?

Yes, 6-7 k for S/C , 5-6k for T/C. Talk to Sean at Roe Racing about getting a set of forged internals. He can also answer just about any performance question you could ever ask about the Viper engine.
