It is the tires. We have pined this down to Pereilli tires and I can tell you that they are coming out of the factory with flat spots. I have made them replace them but you almost have to order 8 tires to get 4 that will balance out.

If you have a problem with your dealer let me know and I will give you my dealers number he is the one that figured it out and I did not get any race truck speech. I also called DC and logged a complaint. I encourage you to call DC too.

Sounds like your persistance paid off. Good job!

Again, my Pirellis have been great and most of the truck owners I know haven't had any problems with them either. Could it be that there were bad production lots? At any rate, glad you solved the problem and are able to enjoy your truck.

Thanks... It was frustrating and there are not that many of us having this issue with the tires. Of course Perelli does not think it is their tire however they are replacing them and the problem is solved at that point. I really like that road force balence too. Can't ignore what it diagnosis.

we talked to a rep at monster mopar, he told us there is a problem but they are not sure what it is. We have had three bad tires replaced, driveshaft replaced, and the harmonic balancer replaced. They have a new part number for the balancer so there has definitely been a problem with those. But it helped the vibration but didn't get it all out. Still at 1200-1600 rpm and at 60-80 mph there is a vibration in the shifter. The rep is going to investigate further and will let us know what they find. He seemed like a very straight forward person and I think he will be honest and find the problem and fix it for us. If you would like for us to keep you updated on what is found email us at scruffyshouse@webtv.net and we will keep you posted on what we find. They are aware there is a problem for sure but haven't figured out quite what it is. We have the single cab 2004 model. I don't get on the web alot mainly on weekends so will check to see if you reply then. Good luck!

Wow... I must have found a good salesman because I went and looked at a New SRT10 about 2 weeks ago and one of the first things he mentioned to was that they were having problems with the wheels and tires being out of balance and sometimes just slinging the factory stick-on weights. I know that most all new vehicles (except for maybe Toyota) will give you problems at one time or another but i keep hearing these nightmare stories that you guys are having with these Chrysler dealerships. What is up with that? Look at my Ex in the Sig. It makes 36 lbs of boost not to mention the lift and I had no trouble getting warrantied on anything, but I guess when you know the right people it helps. Maybe I should start sucking up early to my local Dodge Service manager.

Note to self..... Take Dodge Service Manager to titti bar!

This has defintiely been a problem for some SRT owners but it is a relatively low percentage over all. It almost seems as if a bad lot or two of Pirellis got into the mix. Chances are you won't have any of these problems.

I had this problem and all four tires were replaced. Get this...the new tires are on the truck without one single weight on any wheel!!!!
Never heard of such a thing! Just blind luck.

P.S. For those of you with "orange peel" in your paint. The dealer WILL either wet sand and buff it out or repaint the vehicle. Just complain to the body shop manager. I did and he was very willing to help, under warranty.

Good luck.

More or same vibration.

Even with all four tires and load balancing, I still have vibration @ 60-80 mph.
Took a ride with the service manager and he says there is a vibration and itn is not acceptable.

He has called in a district techician with some vibration diagnostic equipment. Next week he will install vibration electronic pickups at several locations and pinpoint the vibration. As I understand it, This equipment is avaliable to all Dodge and CHRYSLER DEALERS.

I'll keep everyone posted.

P.S. I bitched so much that I asked for a concession for my trouble and got one. I recieved free from the dealer, free oil changes, road service w/towing, and loaner car for repairs for three years or 36K MILES.

Bitch loud!!!!!!!!! Be the squeaky wheel!!!!!!!!

I had the same problem and it took the dealer 3 or 4 months and 6 appointments to get a Dodge expert in. My problem was defective Pirelli tires and a slighly out of balance drive shaft. Tell your dealer to road force balance your tires and give you the readings. 2 of my tires could not be brought into normal spec range of less than 30. The lower the reading, the better the balance. The Pirelli tires are not round. The dealer rep went through 4 or 5 sticker tires before settling on the 2 new ones they put on the rear of my SRT-10. The dealer will probably tell you that it is a Pirelli problem and try to wash their hands of it. Stay on them and force them to handle it. Very few dealers have the equipment required to fix your problem. A high end specialty wheel and tire shop will have the proper equipment. The drive shaft balance can be checked easily by putting the truck on the rack or jack stands and removing the rear wheels. Then you sit in the driver's seat and run it up to 80 mph to see if you have the same vibration. My problem was at 35-40 mph and 68-74 mph and is almost gone except when the tires are cold. Good luck.

Got it fixed!!!!

We went through 15 tires before we got four that would road balance. We got the numbers below 15 on all four tires. I have to hand it to the dealer. Specifically the service manager. He drove the truck with me and agreed that it was not acceptable. Then he stayed after it until it was corrected. The dealer is Bob Wilson Dodge in Tampa, Fl. the service manager is Eric Osborne, you can call him @ 813-931-1643 if you need some backup with a stubborn dealer.
