Opinions please...
Whats up fellas. I recently traded my 02 Sierra Denali for an 02 Lightning with 18k miles, my dad has a 2001 Sierra C3 and is considering trading for a quadcab SRT-10. We test drove a quad cab 05 today, it shook and vibrated really bad. I was reading on here that the tires may not be good on some trucks? I am thinking it shook and vibrated due to being sat on the lot for sometime. I think the tires were just flat spotted. Anyways, how do you all like the trucks? Is the ride very harsh? I need to go ahead and get that pully/tune ordered for my lightning. Looks like I have some parental competition haha.
Congrats on your truck and the one your dad is looking at. I love my SRT. It's the most fun vehicle I've ever had driving on the street and I've been around performance vehicles for a long, long time. There seems to be a batch or two of the Pirellis that have some balancing problems. There is enough documentation out there now where the vibration should be an easy fix. But, make them fix it before your dad buys the truck. That may be more motivating for them. BFG KDW2s are a good alternative to the Pirellis. They're stickier and add a whole lot more visual attitude IMO. The vast majority of the SRTs don't have any vibration problem. In fact, the ride is amazingly comfortable even with the X Metal lowering kit. Yet, at the same time body roll is minimal. It's unreal to pull 0.9gs in something this heavy. The pulley/tune should level the playing field or maybe even give you a bit of an edge. However, the aftermarket is beginning to produce a number of good speed parts for the SRTs so your dad will have some good options to choose from. Sounds like you and your dad are going to have a lot of fun together.
