Welcome to Dodge Forum!

There are a couple of fix's for your problem......from wrapping the hyd/line in some sort of heat-shield.....to changing the shifter.
I did both. There from X-Metal Eng. a gentleman called 'Boomer' sells them and a lowering/kit for our Trucks.
Your lucky you can fine 3rd with the stock shifter. With the new shifter 3rd's my best shift now!

Lucky to get my 13.21/seconds out of her with me driving! 2.30/60....
We're trying to do this with street tires. There a couple of guy's we hang with that have the same set-up in the low 12's.....12.44/seconds... 1.90/60
Like I said it can be done. These are all manual/trans. They put a auto/trans in Craig's Twin/Turbo Silver Bullit and pulled a 9.77/second run right out of the box!
The best the Truck would do before that with a manual/trans was 10.89/seconds.

You take that 6/speed away...you might as well take the Truck!
This big 5400# lady on the street is still at the top of the food-chain!
She don't beat them all...but nobody walks-her!

i understand about the ATX making it faster on the strip, but i agree with not swapping the 6 speed out...even if it isnt as fast on the quarter mile, i would prefer the 6 speed...what was your mph? pretty high, i would imagine?

this craig, i think that ive seen video of it..isnt he running like a 16 inch tire, and slicks?

4.56:1 rear/end not real high on the mph.....maybe 111/mph on the 12.4 and 115-117/mph on the 13.21
And yes Craig was running 16"/rims and NO back brakes...I think there were 14"/MT slicks.
That's close to what the Viper puts down on the pavement about 26-28"/total inches of rubber (14"/aside)

Those higher #'s were with the 4.10:1/gears the O.E.M. I haven't seen anything higher than 112/mph with the 4.56:1/gears.

I've only heard Phil's Truck over the internet wav/file. I'm running around right now with everything disconnected and a German made stainlesss/steal bonnett air/cleaner. You know when she's getting close. My wife says she can hear me coming from a couple of blocks away...but she knows what to listen for. The guy next door was sure I had a diesel until I showed him the engine/bay!
Anyway she's loud enough for me......she can turn a head......

All this against one lowly set of lousy street tires..there even snow/rated

My Current Mods

Manufacturer..... Product...... Added

UNITRAX 4.56:1 rear/end 2/18/2005
Yeah! That's what I'm talking about.

Co2/mister 7/8/2005
Spray's the inter-cooler radiator...Sweet!

X-Metal "Boomer" Lowering Kit 3/7/2005
1"/drop in the front 2"/drop in the rear (O.E.M. 1-3/4"/drop in front, 2-1/4"/drop in the rear) TOTAL:2-3/4" front, 4-1/4" in the rear. Not quite a slam!

Paxton Automotive Novi 2000 SuperCharger w/75lb injectors 11/26/2004
Best thing I ever did....600+rwhp.and we're only on 7#'s BOOST.

X-Metal "Boomer" Short Throw Shifter 3/7/2005
Never miss thrid again!

DC Performance Water/Methanol/Mist-Injection Kit 7/8/2005
Water injection system/ Computer flash/ Methonal 50/50

Trying not to give-in to the temptation of using the 'slicks'...there's a set of M/T-14's available on a 16" rim that would put me at about a 513/rear end ratio.
With about a total of 28" of rubber hitting the road..could be interesting. Don't really know what it feels like not to go 'sideways' yet!
But like I said..real/world I'm not riding aroung with 'slicks' on. Lets just say at over 60/yrs. old and I'm sill on a learning curve........
