I am waiting for my performance pcm to come, and just was curious when swap them out so the dealer doesnt reflash, could they tell if you had done that? Just curious if there was ever a problem if they would ever be able to prove that it wasnt a stock pcm in at the time

 

I believe there is a hrs meter in the PCM. (similar concept as they use in heavy equipment) If someone was specifically looking to see if the PCM was swapped they could probably correlate the hrs to mileage on the odometer. The other 99.9% of the time, they would not know. That is of course if there was any significant delta in miles between when the new PCM was installed and the stock PCM was put back in.

Nobody in the past two years has ever had a dealer discover and or prove the PCM has been swapped out.


Its not something that a tech is going to look at for any diagnostic trouble shooting.
