Default Current SRT owners...help this new guy!

Taking delivery on Thursday in Milwaukee on a black one. Need your comments on the following:

Is a drive-thru "brushless" carwash OK? Easiest way to dry the cargo area after wash.

What kind of break-in period? I had a 2002 Z06 Corvette and gave it 500 miles before I pushed it.
Tonneau (sp?) cover availability...how does it attached to the bed...any wind noise?

Mine listed at $46,095 (includes bed liner)...paying $45,000 at Russ Darrow Dodge in Milwaukee. I called several Chicago dealers and they wanted an extra $2,000-5,000 over sticker ...is this common in other areas of the US?

Could not locate any sitting sales floor!

Any other comments would be appreciated.

Hello nick449, I've had my srt 10 since may, i havent been able yet to find a hard cover that will work with the rear spoiler, except the new 2005 quad cabes are coming from dodge with body color hard cover. I don't know if the spoiler is integral or if our spoilers would be able to attach, I'm trying to find that onw out. I've got about 400 miles on mine, but havent pushed it very hard at all yet, but it has awesome torque

I found mine in Madison on the floor, Don Miller Dodge. DON"T do the gas station car washes, they use harsh chemicals.

Thanks for the carwash info. I have owned many new Corvettes and have always done hand washing. Looks like I'll have to grow longer arms!

Yea...I have called Dodge dealers all over the midwest and I found none sitting on any dealer sales floor (2004 production is 2,500 with about 1,500 produce so far). The "inbound to dealer" SRT 10's in most markets were atleast $5,000 "market adjustment" add on...Kansas City was the highest at+$15,000. I'm acquiring mine through a 5 star Dodge dealer in Milwaukee and I don't think the sales manager knows what is going on with this model so I locked in at $1,000 "under" sticker. This vehicle is intransit somewhere between central Illinois and Milwaukee (SRT 10's are shipped out of Santillo, Mexico final assembly plant via "rail car" to a midwest truck transporter and then on to the local dealer). I don't mine this extra 2 week delay if I can secure this truck at that price ($45,000).

I spoke to a Dodge Ram truck expert at Joliet Dodge in Illinois ...Steve White...815-729-3343 and they have not received any SRT 10's to his dealership so far. He stated about 75% of the production was being shipped to Texas, Florida, southern Calif. and the Northeast).

Dodge Truck sponsored a NASCAR truck race this past Saturday night on SPEED TV (July 17th) and the pace truck was the SRT 10 in blue "Viper" color. In addition, there was an SRT 10 commercial during the race. I spoke to a large Dodge dealer this AM and he has received tons of telephone inquires regarding this truck after this race.

I'll post some comments once I take delivery hopefully in the next 10 days.

Ive had mine for a week. A friend of mine suggested using those micro fiber clothes that you can buy at most stores, got mine at "auto zone". Mine is black and I wouldnt think of putting through a car wash, do it your self. Get a california duster and some detail spray and wipe it down.

Hi nick449, sorry about the delay, been away. Yes there is a front licence plate bracket, I took mine off and screwed in some body colour bolts with foam washers behind, look pretty decent, look ugly with plate on front my opinion only. I use a polish called Auto Glaze from a company in Florida, man doe she shine and the paint is so slick a rag will slip right down the hood

[sm=goodidea.gif] Wash it by hand...wax it by hand[sm=imsmilin.gif] And these "Whop ***" Trucks were going for as much as $20,000.00 over invoice[sm=icon_rofl.gif] in Los Angeles California.
And the mod that I would get goes with these gauges[sm=trust_me.gif]
