Default Drop in filters

I knew this day would come. "Its a $56,000 truck, its got 505 ponies stock, you cant afford to soop it up, nor do u need to....but still, it'd be sweet" Well after taking out the air box for my Silverstar lightbulb swap-out, i realized how crappy that stock air filter is. Budget is key for me with any mods i do (and ease of taking out as its a lease that i wont be able to buy outright at the end), so i was wondering if just going with a K&N drop in filter is even worth it if i didnt want to do an actual intake? From what i've been reading, the intake really doesnt make a difference unless you rock out an aftermarket exhaust, which again...would look like a little too much bank for a lease. I'm just looking for some thoughts on this, cause i know the obvious progression of price/performance ratio. Would it be a waste to just do a drop in?

Thanks again for everyone's posts on here, everyone around here my age cant get over their coffeecan mufflers on their 95' eclipses or the fins on their VW Jettas, so its good to get some senseable insight.

Good cheap mod....S&B or K&N drop in filter is about $50. You should get about 8rwhp gain

Hey Platinum, man sorry to not get involved in your filter question but I feel for you with your lease issue. Have you thought about getting a loan to pay of the rest of your lease when it is up? That way you get to keep the truck and hopefully continue the payment around the same figure you are paying on the lease?

Just a thought mate, as I would not like to be in your position and I was trying to think of a way for you to keep your truck when the day comes.

well the payoff is about $35k, my current payment is just around $450 a month. Not too bad for a $56,000 truck, but you add in insurance and the fact that i have to have a second car (michigan winters surely wont allow 505hp in a rwd pickup truck to drive in a snowstorm) and i'm in a spot thats a little more tight than a 21 year old should be in, lol. A $35,000 loan is gona have a pretty hefty intrest rate, likely putting me well over that $450 threshold.
Its a bummer too, cause i know that most any car i'll have until i retire is gona be a bare-bones model of something puny. Oh well, you only live once, and i'm gona enjoy the hell out of this thing for the next 2 years!
