New Ram SRT 10 owner reviews 1st 2 days
I took delivery on Friday (July 23) and after 2 days and about 120 miles I will pass along my initial comments on my red Ram SRT 10. My last high perfromance vehicle was a 2001 Z06 Corvette so most of comments will be based on this Z06 comparison.
Exterior...very good quality with unmatched curb appeal. I use to get many looks with the Z06 but this SRT 10 has people doing triple takes. The front view of this truck is the best view. Most people don't know anything about this truck...I'm sure this will change over the next year. Great paint quality and the wheels are the best.
Interior...this is the first non-GM car I have owned . This interior is so refined with great leather/suede seats. Easy-to-use instruments and that Infinity sound system is fantastic...love that 10" sub woofer. Actually I have not used very much...can't get enough of that exhaust system. When driving by people this engine and exhaust system simply states that his truck is the real deal...King Kong. Tremendous "width" room inside this truck with the center arm rest measuring atleast 12" wide. Seats are better than my Z06...better quality and comfort.
Performance...I have kept the engine under 4,200 rpm's with top speed at 80mph. The torque equals the Z06. We're talking about a 5,100 pound truck versus the 3,000 pound Z06. The 6 speed Tremec T56 transmission is similar to the Viper and Z06. The Hurst "bent" stick shift is one of the best features...real crisp shifts...less notchy than the 2001 Z06. Very responsive handling and feel. I was so impressed with the quietness inside the cab...better than my 2002 Chevy Trailblazer. But you'll need two hands on the wheel when taking curves over 40 mph. You'll feel the 5,100 pounds and it needs complete control. The tight suspension is very impressive...incredible traction on the limited number of power accelerations I have done...no spinning tires here!
All for now but this truck has it all...can't say enough good things about. Thanks Dodge!!
