when do you suggest getting the initial oil change, and subsequent.......my old truck ran synthetic and i went 5000

 

The first I would do at or before 3K. I then change every 5K on syn or 1 year, which for me means 1 year as I do not come close to 5K in a year.

 

I would agree. After initial engine break-in (2500 miles or so), andagain at 5K and every 5K thereafter. Keep records for warranty purposes. Fully synthetic oil will hold up pretty well but I still would hesitate to go much further between changes.

These enginesjust cost too much to replace/rebuild...

 

Manufacturer's recomendations say 5,000 so 5000 for synthetic and i'd stick to 3000 for dino.

 

if you are going to drive a 50,000 dollar truck and are too cheap to go full syn then your truck should be taken away i would say the oil is very vital to engine and like it was said earlier expensive engine. i personally run the mobile one 7500 mile oil for no more than 5000 miles and that all depends on your driving habbits. i worked as a oil tech/mechanic for 4 yrs.

i would say if you drive every time enough to get the motor fully warmed up and mantian that temp for a good 20 30 min and its not all stop and go you would be good for 5000 on reg mobile 1 but if you do alot of stop and go i would say there 7500 or 15000 mile oil about the same price and they sya they gurantee it. also royal purple is a good syn oil.

 

I know what youa re saying, but.... The trucks are more like 30K now Anyone who paid 50K was taken to the cleaners.
