Default Fuel pump?

I recently left agas station and started having problems. It was jumping and loosing power. So i thought it was bad gas. I used some stuff from the auto parrts store to help get the water out. Now it has problems starting. And when you go up hills it seems to jump and jerk. I was told the fuel filter( which means the whole pump) are they correct?

Yes the fuel filter is built into the pump.

But before you go that route, you should connect a fuel pressure gauge and watch it while driving to see if your pressure is dropping off or not. If it's not dropping off you can rule out the pump or filter.

I have an older van, '92 and there is a fuel filter in the fuel line mounted on the frame about half way on the passenger side. Good to check the pressure but you might want to stick your head under and take a look.
