Default charging system woes

My van wouldn't start the other day, turned over but just wouldn't fire.
I drained the battery in the process. I boosted it the next morning and it fired right up.
I noticed later that the battery wasn't charging. I turned the van off and sure enough, not even enough juice to turn it over.
I had PartsSource dyno the alt, which failed (although i suspect they scammed me), so i put in a new alt.
The van runs fine with the battery disconected.
The battery meter on the dash is about 1/4 way to the middle.
Nothing doing, won't charge.

The guy who sold it to me about a year ago, told me his mechanic had bypassed the computers voltage regulator and put in an external, but i can't find it.
Any ideas? I'm goona be stranded at work today if I don't figure this out.

Besides the fusible links as a possibility, check your engine to body ground strap down by the ignition coil. If this is not making good contact the charging system will not work correctly, if at all.

Turned out to be the voltage regulator.
Parts Source tested my alternator, and said it failed, but i suspected they were lying, so I went back and tested it myself, and it passed.
I picked up a voltage regulator from Napa and installed it. Charges fine now.
