Default check engine light

Hi all,
I have a 1999 Ram Van 1500 with a 318 / auto trans. The other day the check engine light came on, stayed on for 1 1/2 days then went out. I have recently changed the spark plugs and cleaned the K&N drop in filter. It has been running great and now the idle is kind of rough when I start it but seems to smooth out when it warms up. Not related to this problem the brake and abs lights have been on for a while even after new brakes were installed and new front rotors. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Derrel

hello,
your abs light probably means you have a sensor out or sometimes you might have one that is dirty. I am not sure where they are on your but there should be a sensor at each wheel and if you just changed the brakes you might have a lot of debri on it. for the check engine light i would go to advanced auto or autozone and they can read the code for you and tell you what it might be.
good luck

Thanks Jawsfree,
I did go to Autozone and they read the code for Vehicle Speed Sensor malfunction. I've replaced the sensor and reset the computer and the light came back on yesterday. I'll check the brake sensors this weekend.

its possible that there could be a short in the wire or something of that nature causing to much resistance and making the light come on.
