Default transmission dipstick tube o-ring

This is in regard to a 93 Ram. Truthfully, I'm not sure which transmission is in it, but it's got a 3.9 V6, and is an automatic.

The transmission dipstick filler tube is leaking a bit down by the end that goes into the transmission. It's minor, but I wanna go ahead and replace the o-ring. Anyone know how much fluid might come out when I remove the tube?

Thanks!

None should come out unless the tranny is overfull.

This problem has come up a few times over at another Dodge forum for both the Ram Vans and Trucks. The earlier vintage trannys just need an o-ring while the newer trannys need a special sized seal of some type.

Most of the time, the leaking of fluid bypassing the seal/o-ring is due to heavy loads or traveling up and down various hills and grades.

Thanks for the replies. When I pulled the tube out, transmission fluid starting pouring out......Gonna wait on this.....very minor problem.....tube moves a little when removing the dipstick, and we're talking 2-3 drops here.....gonne replace it when I replace the fluid.

Thanks!
