Default '93 B250 (3.9L) Surging & Stalling Issues

I have these two issues that I would very much like to narrow down. To begin, there are two scenarios from startup: 1) it starts fine or 2) it starts, but the check engine light is on and the engine surges from a high rev to almost nothing. The surging does even out, but the CE light stays lit. Either way all I need to do is tap the accelerator while driving at low speeds or come to a stop and the engine stalls. The oil pressure gauge is the only warning I have as to when a stall will occur. I was thinking that the oil pump might be to blame. Any advice would be appreciated.

First check the PCM trouble codes for clues. In the absents of any codes I believe your problem will be solved if you change the throttle position sensor.

Also check the ICS or IAC on the TB.

PCM codes didn't help (12). I cleaned the IAC valve, etc. No change. I was wary about replacing the valve, but I need to do quite a bit of interstate travel this week for my work. So, I bit the bullet (or jumped the gun) and bought the Autozone replacement part. Engine started fine, idle was smooth. I was able to reproduce this a dozen times without a check engine light as well. I went on the roads with no issues at stoplights or coming off the highway. Needless to say I'm quite pleased. However, I did stall out twice later this evening. Once gently pulling out of a parking space in reverse (this produced a CE light 90 seconds into the next ignition) and the other shortly after doing the same (no light). Both situations had in common a really quick ignition that produced a somewhat low rpm idle and a oil pressure of about 20% after 2-3 minutes. How long should one let their engine warm up?
