Broken hood release!

I just tried popping the hood on my '86 B250 and the hood release handle came right off in my hand. How do I open the hood without using the handle?

Help!

If just the handle broke and not the cable, then you can grab the cable with vise-grips and pull while a helper is pushing down on the hood the ease the pressure.
