Trans question
Hello
I was wondering if you can help me... My sister in-law has a Dodge Ram Van. She went to out of town to see family.. and her van started having problems. It would start then stall so thay took it in. Thay said it was something electrical.. and got fixed. She was on her way back home. The van runsbut when put in gear it reved but would notengage so thay changed the tranmission oil filterthen now the van starts but jus stays in 1st gear and won't shift.
The transmission that is in there was rebuild less then a year ago any ideas on what the problem might be.

If the driveshaft is turning it's a rearend problem. If it's not, other than low fluid nothing you do externally will solve this problem. The problem is internal and it's back to the tranny shop.
You didn't mention what engine nor model year the van is.
Many of the NEWER vans have electronic controls to the tranny. If something was adjusted to the electronics and amissed the tranny, you'll be searching for some time to sort out the problem.
On my van I have the 46RE tranny. The E stands for electronic.
