I currently have a 1987 Dodge Ram Wagon B-150. 318, 3 sp automatic, 109 inch wheelbase. 260,000 miles. It still does very well. Lately though, I have been thinking about getting a 1999 version of my van. After looking this newer van over, I see a lot has changed. This 109 inch van has the 318, but has a 46RE trans and a 9 1/4 inch differential, with 355 gears, and anti-slip. My question is, is the 46RE as good as my current A727, which has been wonderful. No problems with it at all in the last 10 years I have had the van. In that 10 years, I have put 180,000 miles on the van. Any info about this 46RE would be appreciated. Thank you.
