Default Pulling codes

Hi new to the forums ive had this 89 b250 van now for a few years and the thing has never ran right check engine light is either on or off runs real bad but my question is how do i pull the codes without using a scanner? I really can't afford to buy one right now and id hate to buy one just to find out i need a8 dollar part.

Have you done the key on/of trick three times without starting the engine, leaving the key to on and counted the check engine light flashes in double digit senquence?[&:]

Yea i finally figured that one out by reading posts im used to the paper clip trick anyways i got the codes there12,13,27,54,17. in that order. I don't understand the 12 code as i have not dissconnected the battery since i put it in like 2yr's ago im going to pick up some noids tomorrow to check my injectors but what up with the 13 no change in map from start to run? And 54 no cam signal at pcm? Where should i start?

sounds like your cam sensor might be going bad... that would cause alot of problems withdriveability... not sure how it's handled on the older motors but on the magnum motors it's responsible for the fuel injection sync... if that's off or intermittantly going away, you'll get bucking out of the motor.
