'79 5.9L Header & Dual Exhaust?
I bought thisfrom a coworker to use it for occasionaltowing(2500~3000 lbs). Would installing a header (Dynomax for only $250) help towing performance? Many years ago I installed a header onmy 4-cyl Celica andlost lots of bottom endtorque.Iwant to increase low to mid range torque on my van - say about 1500 to 3000 RPM where I use the most. Also, I'mthinking about dual exhaustbutnot sure how itwould affect thetorque curve. Any advice?

Headers or dual exhaust will not help you in the low to mid range. Both are beneficial in the upper RPM range because that's when you have a higher volume of exhaust gases and the potential for excessiveback pressure.
The cheapest way for you to increase bottom end power is to install a new timing chain set that has the extra keyways for adjusting the valve timing. Installing it so that you get 3-4 degrees of valve timing advance will shift your power range towards the lower RPM range. This will of course reduce your upper RPM power.
