how to troubleshoot a busted heater/ac fan
Hi,
My Swiss brother in law just bought himself a 1985 B250 Ram van to cruise around the country. It's pretty OK, even passed CA emissions first try, but the Heater Blower won't respond to the fan switch. When you push any of the ac/heater buttons you can feel the fan turn at the "just on" speed, but there's no juice getting to the resistor block (at least inside the firewall), much less to the fan switch.
Am I troubleshooting wrong looking for voltage at the cab side of the resistor pack? The key's on, there's juice to the other dash stuff....
Also, can anybody identify the wiring for this part of the car? The Haynes manual we bought doesn't show us a wiring diagram with that part of the circuit.
Help? We need to get Jack Kerouac on the road! javascript:void(AddText('
'))
peace,
jenni

I would 1st un plug the heater fan motor and get a ground and 12 volts to it to see for sure the motor is good. It will show power to the fan but isn't that the low fan setting that's on all the time when the buttons are pushed? I would think if the motor is good it's either a fuse or maybe the fan speed switch at the heater controlls.
Just a thought. Good luck.

Replace the fusable link located under the hood driver's side .You will see a bunch in one spot look for the one that looks loose .then with a test light check for power on both sides of wire.Replace with new fusable link from parts store $2.00 .I had the same problemI fixed it. Blower and AC pump works again and on some it also controls power windows too.
