your opinions regarding 318 engine work
I have a 78 b200 with a 318 + carter 2bl.
I could not even guess how many miles this thing has on it.
Im guessing nearly300+k I've driven it across country twice
and it had a few trips to canada on it before that.
, it runs great since the carburetor rebuild, and I'm
planning on taking it on yet another leap-of-faith trip in
12/05. I want to do to it every thing I can short of having
to take the engine out, and I want some dodge folks' opinions on
what would be some good areas of focus for doctoring this beast.
I want to replace the head gaskets, intake manifold gasket, and
clean and inspect the valves and check out the wheel bearings,
(i just did the carb + differential) I know that the transmission
is rebuilt and low mileage.
your oppinions are appriciated.
I've read that the 318 was built with a focus on durability
and not necessarily more power.
can anyone expound upon this?
Thanks!

When you have the intake off ensure you get all the carbon build up out from the underside of the plate cleaned. That will ensure the carb gets the proper heat and will much better. This is common on the 318s and 360's.
Good luck on your trip.
