Question for all the V6 van owners or experts, tranny and RPMs
I am looking at V6 Dodge conversion vans, there isa 98I like and test drove, but above 40 mph, it seemed like it was missing a higher gear, sounded like the rpm's were high, and when you let up on it, it felt like it had engine braking like a ATV. from a stop, it will go thru all the gears, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, but it just must be geared lower than others I have driven.what I can find on these is all the V6's have 3 speed trannies in them? and does 3 speed mean no overdrive? and does this seem normal? theshop that has it, said they hookedup a meter to it, and drove it, and it was about 2600 rpm's at 60.. Seemed alot higher than that when I drove it. I had a 94 years ago, had that out west in the mountains, never did anything like this. Any help on this would be appreciated,,, Thanks Guys.
Welcome to the 3.9L Magnum V6 with the 3-speed tranny. Yes, they all do that. Surprisingly, it does well on gas vs. the 5.2L Magnum with 4-speed OD.
I've own both. See my sig.
