Default Dumb Me - Need Engine Pictures

Dodge 2000 B1500 Conversion Van w/AC

I am changing out my water pump and decided to tear things down and go after the thermostat and hoses behind it. Well, I marked things as I went along (I always do) with corresponding numbers. This takes time, but has always allowed me to put it back together with no problems.

Well, this job has been a B___ from the get go. With things going wrong all over the place. Thank God I am retired with the time to stroll through it all. Anyway, I have one final problem left. I have a marked #2 hose with no corresponding inlet or nipple.

So, what I need from you B1500 owners is a picture of your the inside of your engine compartment from the thermostat forward to the grill, from the top end. I need to see the thermostat, pullies, etc.. Maybe if I have that, I can put this thing back together. You can email me at lanesharon@yahoo.com with the pics. You may even be able to send them to me via PM here or post them here.

Thanks to anyone who can help me with this.

Obviously not always.

Here is a pic that should explain it all. I draped the line that has me baffled over the radiator to distinguish it.

They are both coming out near the passenger side firewall corner. I believe I hooked up the thermostat one correctly, but not sure, at this point because of the other line problems.

It is the other one that has me baffled. At the other end of that line, I believe it hooks to the water pump. It is long enough to do that. But, right in the middle of that line is another outlet (noted with ?? and a piece of masking tape at the end of it). I have the #2 on that, so it must have been the second thing I pulled off. But, I'll be a darned if I know where it goes now......

It goes down to the top right side of the water pump. You probably connected the heater hose from the rear heater to the water pump instead ofconnecting it to that tee.

I have redone the picture because I can see by your answer that I confused you. I said I thought that the end of it went to the water pump outlet. That is not the problem. It is that y-shaped plastic 't'. The one with the red arrows now going to it. I have no idea what attaches there. That is why I was hoping that someone could give me a picture of the inside of their B1500 van engine. I would, hopefully, see how this is hooked up. My local junkyard does not have any.

Thanks for answering.

I understood the first time. I don't have rear heat so a picture of mine won't help. But what I'm saying is yes, the end ofthat hose with the tee in it is supposed to go to the water pump. As far as the tee goes, there are two hoses that come from the rear heat unit, one is already connected to the tee in the other hose that connects to the intake next to the t-stat. What you're missing is the 2nd hose from the rear heat unit. It's that 2nd rear heat hose that is supposed to connect to the mystery (????)tee.

I waited for a friend of mine to get back from out of town, because he has an identical van. His is not a conversion though. As soon as I looked as his engine yesterday, and we discussed some more about therear heater in the conversion, the light bulb went on in the 'old brain'.That flash moment of clear thought took me over to the drivers side of the van.It finally dawned on methat the rear heater line ran in that direction, since the heater is on that side. I have to cut myself some slack here because that T was headed to the passenger side fender, so it was a little confusing.Anyway, tucked up in the corners of the driver side fender was a line marked #2!God, I hate senior moments (or maybe weeks).

Gee I wish I'd had thought to mention a missing rear heater hose. [sm=icon_beat.gif]
