warms up and dies.
Hello,
I put in a new PCM on the van. It ran about 30 miles and then the same old crap. This problem is driving me to drink...and I already do that! I REALLY need this crazy van to run right, but I'm about ready to roll it off a cliff. Any other ideas and/or suggestions? I would sure appreciate it!!!
Thanks!
Neb.

Have you check to see what the fuel pressure is once the van dies on you? I know you put in a new pump but if this problem developed after the new pump it may mean that the pump is faulty (rare but yet can happen).
Before I bought my van I was hired to find a simular problem with it. Though I tried to duplicate the problem I was not able to get the van to do so. The problem happened twice in a row for the driver that drove it before I bought it. Alloro suggested that the pump may be the problem exspecially if it did it when the tank was below 1/2. So far since I bought the van I have kept the tank at 1/2 and above and have driven it for over 500 miles, and for now his suggestion seems very accuriate fortheproblem has not reappeared, (now only temporaly for if I let the thing continue to long the pump will start acting up and/or just give up on me at some point down the road). Alloro suggested taking a fuel pressure reading once the van acted up and see what it showed.

Hello,
Alloro, your last post made me laugh!! I haven't smiled regarding the dang van since all of this started!! Ticked off is probably not the word I would have chosen however. Ha-Ha. I was wondering though...why would it matter if the van was warmed up or not in regards to checking the pressure again? Also, I have had it half full twice through this whole ordeal and it still acted up, but I will check the fuel pressure and MY blood pressure again! I did try two things today out of desperation. #1. I ran a hose straight from the grill into the PCM in hopes that maybe the PCM is getting too hot and bringing in more air would help. #2. I drilled several holes in the catalytic converter thinking that maybe it was just about clogged up and when it got hot it expanded enough to choke the motor. After these DESPERATE attempts it ran great for the 20 mile trip home from work. BUT, it has tricked me before, so I ain't dancing naked on the table! Any creedence to these two attempts?? Anyway, any other suggestions would be great!! And THANK YOU guys for continuing to help me!!

The reason about checking the fuel pressure once it is hot is that I mean at the time that the van quits on you, check it at that point and see what the pressure is then. This will then tell you if the pump is faulty.
I will look at your suggestion of adding cool air to the PCM myself. I have not liked it being above a hot motor.

Hello,
Just thought I would give you guys an update. 250 miles and it is running OK. Maybe, just maybe, one of those last two desperate attempts worked! I just wonder which one made the difference or if it was un-easy spirits or goblins the whole time. Anyway...thank you for helping me!!
