Default Transmission electrical connection question

My 97 Ram B2500 has the three speed tranny. When I was under it checking the axle fluid level I noticed a electrical connection plug on the left side of the transmission just above the pan and a little forward of the tail shaft.

What is this plug for and would any one have a spare?

It seems someone drove over something that ripped two of the wires off of it and the last wire is holding the plug from falling off, it is not connected to the transmissin but I know where it should go. So I need a new plug and enough wire to splice it back in.

That should be your neutral safety/backup light combo switch. I'm surprised that the starter cranks with it not connected. Maybe the previous owner jumped the wires somewhere.

For the pigtail you'll have to get one from a junkyard or the dealer.

Yes, the starter has been bypassed. I thought it was because of a blown fuse (probably the hot wire into this connector) is why he bypassed the starter. Now I know whom it was that drove it when the wires were ripped off of the connector.

And that will explain the PCM's, I think it was the P1189, code for the neutral safety switch.

Thanks Alloro.

I'm guessing that it's safe to assume your reverse lights don't work either.[sm=sigh.gif]

Yep, you are correct.[sm=youreright.gif]

I will try to get one of those connectors tracked down and installed.
