Hi guys,
I got a 90 B350 w/ 318, It started doing this about 2 months ago and has gradually gotten worse & worse. It runs fine when on the gas but surges bad at idle & stop lights. to the point of stalling now! Ive changed plugs wires cap & rotor, also sprayed throttle body w/ cleaner but no help....I can see the throttle spring surge w/ the cowling off & oil pressure light comes on ( i guess cause its gonna stall?) No ck engine ligt though. Do you think maybe coil is goin bad?? I need help, this is my work van, So any help is much APPRECIATED!!!......thank you...T

 

I have the same problem with my 1990 dodge ram. I have done everything that you listed plus change the fuel pump and coil. I still have the same problem. I also changed the idle control Solenoid which costs #200 bucks. I have done eveything and I still have it surging. I think the next step is to get it scaned at a shop, I believe its a computer failure to set up the right amout of fuel to air. My truck runs extremly rich.

I wish i knew the answer because i would fix my own problem.

I forgot to mention that I had the fuel pump changed about a year ago too......Does anyone know if a fuel filter could be the problem??

 

Well I changed the fuel filter & still the same, It was showing the 52 code (rich mix) so I unhooked the Neg cable for a min. put back on, started it up & to my suprise It actually Idled!!!.....It still runs a little ruff at stop signs ( but nothing like the 2 footed way it was before) & the 52 code is gone. Maybe I'll try takin the tbi off & cleaning the bottom of the plate to see if that does anything, as soon as i get a gasket....thanks to this forum or I never woulda even known about the codes.......T

 

Can you check if you have any vacuum from the Fuel Pressure Regulator. On my truck which has the same problem as your van does not appear to have any vacuum from the fuel pressure regulator.
