94 b250 cargo van start problem
ok I have a 1994 b250 van with a v6 in it, it only has 86000 miles and ran great when i bought it a week ago.
ok hears the scoop, I was trying to get out of my drive way and the van stalled, it would turn over just fine but no spark or fuel, so I check all the fuses in the dash and they were all good, the i poped off the glove box and started fumbleing around in there ( because i read another posting on hear that sounded like "my problem" that the asd realy was bad, so i tried looking for the asd relay) I could not find the asd relay so i said screw it and put the glove box back together and opened the hood, I looked around in there for a minute cluelessly and didnt see anything....so i closed the hood, after all the fumbleing around I went in the van and she fires right up, ran like a top, then i turned it off and put everything back together and it started just fine about two or three more times, then after it was running for about two or three minutes it shut off agian and now it wont start.
any help is appreciated, I race motorcycle so i dont know anything about cars...
I was kinda thinking an ignition switch but i heard they are kind of expensive so i would like to know for sure that, thats what it is......
thanks. Cody

The ASD relay is under the hood on the firewall. There's actually 2 relays there. One is the ASD and the other is the fuel pump relay. I believe the auto stores sell both as an assembly.
The lack of a buzzer could be several things. The previous owner could've disabled it, the buzzer could be bad, or the key contacts in the ignition switch could be broken.

today we replace the relays and they would click and work fine when you turn the key on and the van would start, then all of a sudden the van would shut off, it would start up after waiting about 30 secs. and run great. then all of a sudden it would shut off. when it would shut off and die you could turn the key off and the relay wouldnt work. so its obviuos that when they were getting power they would work and when they werent getting power they wouldnt work, but what gives them power???
so whats makes the relay work??
the computer??
maybe the ignition swith???
I just dont wanna start replacing parts that dont need to be fix.
now i know its not the relays.
thanks

Fuse #7 (30A) under the hood powers the portion of the ignition switch (12 gauge red wire) that ultimately powers the ASD relay. The 14 gauge dark blue wire off the ignition switch is what runs to the ASD relay coil giving it power when the key is on. The negative side of the ASD relay coil runs via a 20 gauge dark blue/yellow wire to the PCM for the ground. Both the fuel pump and ASD relay coils are wired in parallel and go on and off together. So you might want to probe both sides of the coil and see if you're not getting positive or negative and go from there.

To be honest with you, I didnt replace anything except those relays. and for some reason i can drive it 100 miles or even one mile and i never know when its just going to shut off.
it will shut off as im driveing down the road and i will pull over and turn everything off and then it starts back up.
so i dont know.....no one has a for sure answer on why its doing that and its expensive to start replacing parts.
