AC blew out. I want to remove it completely
Hello everyone,
My AC in my 1990 B150 Ram van went out a few days ago. It was loud when it happened and steam came out from under the hood. I stop using AC altogether a few years ago on this van and would like to remove the AC completely to help save gas. 1. Can I buy shorter belts to bye pass this pulley? I would like to make this van a non AC type. What is the easiest way to do so?
thanks

The compressor has two belts which wrap around the main crank and the alternator. If i eliminate the compressor, it will make for a much shorter belt between the alternator and the crank pulley. Is this right?
Removing the A/C isn't going to save you any gas. With the compressor off, all the engine is doing is turning a pulley, which isn't using any gas. Even if you replace the compressor with just a pulley, you've gained nothing.
