97 Dodge Ram Van won't start after changing battery.
not starting but turns over , may have had more than 1 problem, makes sure u have fuel comming to the inector rail, simple check is turning key off and on and listen near fule tank for fuel pump running , if not u have found the additional problem, the lack of fuel to start. At that point it could be the relay or even bad fuel pump or clogged fuel filter., last check would be that pesky fuel psi regulator. Good luck
start with basics
as mentioned fuel.... then spark
If the key was in run position (bad idea) when charging or swapping batt- check fuses...
when key moved to run within @5seconds check for 12 v at injector or ign coil ?
remote starter?
before this event was ck eng light on?
........................key to run after 5sec will MIL/CEL stay on?
ps 5.2 eng

The problem is more than just the battery. Even with a bad battery, once the engine is running it would've stayed running. So since it stalled, there has to be another problem like the alternator isn't working.
Checked These things last evening.
1- Check engine light does not come on now when key turned on.Turn key on but don't hear fuel pump start up. Swapped fuel relays under hood in fuse box, no difference. Turned motor over while hitting fuel tank to possible check for stuck fuel pump, no change.

1) Engine turns fine but won't start.
2) Check engine light does not light up.
3) No fuel pump sound.
The problem is either the power to the PCM is not there or the PCM has gone bad. Check Connector A pin 22 for 12 volts from fuse 17/18 in PDC. If no power then check the fuse and/or wire. Also check for power when the key is in the "On" position on Connector A pin 2. If no power when the key is on then the problem is in the ignition circuit.
If you find both wires to have the power then check the ASD relay slot for 12 volt power with the key in the "On" position at pin slot C-1. Also check for ground on pin slot C-2. The ground to this pin slot comes from the PCM Connector C pin 1. If you do not get a ground signal then pull PCM connector C and test the wire for continuity from there back to the C-2 pin slot for the ASD relay. It should have continuity between the two connection points but not between one of the connectors and a ground point on the vehicle.
If you do not find a problem with these circuits then replace the PCM.
