Hey everyone........my 95 van is leaking antifreeze at the passenger floor board. There is also the smell of antifreeze when i turn on the ac/or fan. there is a smokey mist that will come out of the vents every now and then and that also smells of antifreeze.
Does this sound like the heater core? anyone have an idea if this is an expesive item to replace? And do I need to go to a dealer to have it done, or is it minor enough to find a mechanic off of craigslist? i know that's a risk already.

Yes, either your heater core has sprung a leak, or one of the hoses going to it has sprung a leak right at the heater core.

The heater core is around $75 and just about anyone can change it. I'd give it only a 3 out of 10 on the difficulty scale. It's time consuming (6-8 hours) but it is not difficult. Oh and the A/C system has to be evacuated and then charged back up when you're done.
