2000 dodge ram van 3500
hi guys its me again . I wondering if you had any advice on things to check before starting a 2000 dodge ram van 3500 that has been sitting for 2 years I have an opportunity to purchase it reasonable it has 20k miles but has sat for 2 years all batteries are dead . any suggestions are appreciated thanks
Well, besides the battery, the Gas in the tank could be bad, and might lead to fuel system issues. I'd remove everything from the tank and put in 7 gallons of 91 octane and a can of Sea foam.
If the tires are original, they most likely have a lot of tread left, but tires should be replaced after 7 years regardless of mileage. If it hasn't be driven in 2 years, the tires could have flatspots and might cause weird noises and vibrations.
I'd also prefer to replace the oil and filter before starting after such a long period of disuse, if I already owned it, or thought that I might. If you decide to buy it, change all the fluids. Brake, power steering, tranny, antifreeze Diff.
Grease the ball joints, and all other steering components with a grease zerk.
And if the moderators are reading this, I find the new system of listing all the threads in alphabetical order, regardless of of the date of the most recent response infuriating, since I keep no cookies on my computer. I've noticed that the responses to questions have dropped off since this new system has been implemented and might decide to not click daily on this bookmark anymore.

I already started a thread on this very issue. Actually the forum was listing threads in alphabetical order, but that was changed and it is now listing them by last posting date. Unfortunately, they're being listed in ascending order so that the oldest posts are being listed first. Once they get around to changing it to descending order we'll have it back the way it was. BTW - I don't think it's all forums that this happened to, just this one.

For now, just click on the red "Last Post" at the top of the post date column and the sort order will reverse.
