My 2001 Dodge B1500 Cargo Van 5.2L V8 started fine the other day but would not shift from Park to Drive or Reverse. I waited a couple of hours and restarted it. It shifted fine. It hasn't happened again but I would like to get to the bottom of the problem. I'm told it might be the Park Neutral switch. Can someone tell me where the switch is located on my van? Any ideas about the problem?

 

You first need to determine if it's a tranny or linkage issue. When it won't move out of park, disconnect the linkage at the tranny and see if the shifter will then move. If it does you have an issue with the tranny. If it doesn't then it's a linkage issue.
