Default 1987 b150?

Hey Guys, nice forum you having going here. I have a 1987 Dodge b150 with a 318,. I inherited the van a few years ago, so I will have it the rest of my life. The body is perfect, no rust or dents but the engine and trans are due for a rebuild. (170k on both) I have been a mechanic for years, so I will be doing the work myself. I plan on buying Edelbrock heads, cam, intake and carb to start with. I tow race motorcyles in the van and behind on a trailer, so I wanted to beef up the engine just a little. I wanted to know what the best place to get the bottom end rebuild kit or should I just piece the kit together? Any advice or what I should look out for will be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Myself, I go after the kits, they save you a lot of hunting around for parts. There are lots of places to buy the kits, but this place has some good choices: http://www.flatlanderracing.com/rebuildkitschrys.html

The rebuild is fairly basic stuff. My only warning is that you don't go more than .030 oversized with the pistons since you'll be towing. The cylinder walls are thin to begin with and taking too much off can result in cylinder wall warping and failure. Also, if there's no external tranny cooler, add one.
