Must be time to check the muffler bearing and emalcamator valve(s). Cant remember if your engine has 2.

Sooo... My new ecm came in today. I cut off the cat and put in a Y pipe. tried to start the van and nothing. Put in the new computer and nothing. We had to once again turn the distributer to get it to start and then once it started we moved it back and it ran fine... for a few minutes. After it warmed up it would spit and sputter when you hit the throttle. I ran into town and bought another cap, rotor, and plugs. Put them all in and it ran great. Took it out on a 5 mile drive and it ran great. Fuel pressure gauge is still hooked up and it never moved, started at 52 psi. Going to wait till tomorrow to see if it starts on its own. Crossing my fingers!!!!

Landyacht318, he said he replaced the cap, rotor and plugs. He did not say that he replaced the plug wires. And I don't know why not.

Yeah that is mysterious. Any Misfire codes, my first suspicion would be the plug wires. Any issues with the cap and rotor are obvious, but I've seen wires that look pristine light up like a fireworks show at night.

I go through many steps to make sure my wires neither touch each other, or anything metal which is grounded. I also use the insulation from my old wires, and double it up in those areas where it might chafe on the dog house, or might touch when the doghouse is on place.

I didnt change the wires at first because I didnt figure all of them would go out at once. I did end up changing them yesterday though, not that it helped. Went out this morning and it took about 10 seconds to crank over but it did start. I thought about it all day and I know its getting spark, but maybe it wasnt getting enough spark, so I changed the coil. Fires right up now and runs great. We'll see if it still runs in the morning though....
