1977 Dodge Moho idles rough
Hi All,
I have a 1977 Dodge Establishment Motorhome with a 360 in it which has always ran great. And then just recently its started to run like crap. When its cold it starts right up but idles rough and you can smell gas and see black smoke coming out the pipes. Eventually it dies (partly because its cold) and then it becomes very difficult to start again, it just keeps cracking over but no start.
I don't have much info on hand except that its a 1977 Dodge 360. Whats strange about the problem is it basically ran fine one day and then started doing this the next.
I don't even know where to begin troubleshooting, any advise would be awesome from you guys.
Thanks for your time.
-Mike

When was the last tune up done? If it has been a while I would look at cap, rotor, plugs, and plug wires first. And air filter, PCV valve, along with a fuel filter. Also could be a weak coil.
Since it will start right up cold I don't think it has jumped time. I would not be surprised if you pulled out the spark plugs tomorrow before you try to start it that you find a few of them fuel soaked.
Hopefully it is not in need of a carb rebuild.
