Default miss firing 5th and 6th cylinder

cant figure out why my 99 van 3500 keeps missing firing on those 2 cylinders. I have changed out ign packs and checked pulse. Along with cap router plugs and cables.. anyone have any idea or seen this happen before?

Check the fuel injectors, they fail often.

pull the plugs back out and make sure that when they were installed the didn't get pushed closed when they were slid down into place, it happened to me, those two plugs can be hard to get to, and sometimes when sliding them down they hit the sides of the holes and get slammed shut.

Hello all,

I have a 99 ram van 1500 with the 318 fuel injection with 200,000 miles on it.
.
I've got a problem with just the # 6 cylinder mis-fire and setting the check eng light on.
Causing a ruff idle, but with a little pressure on the gas pedal the ruffidle is gone. Gas milage is around 16-18 on the highway. Starting is hard when cold (cranks alot before starting), but starts good after it warms up.
I've replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, O2 sencors (front of cat), the # 6 injector, air filter and have reset the computer by removing the neg battery cable overnight.

The van will run with the check eng light off for about a day or two and the ruff idle is alot less then after the check eng light comes back on.
I've pulled the # 6 plug to make sure the gap is still set and it is, were do I go from here?

Could be a bad new plug. Swap it with another cylinder and see if the problem moves to that new cylinder or stays with the #6. Then try swapping the plug wire with another and see if that solves it. Sometimes it's the simple things.[sm=yeahsmile.gif]

do a compression & leakdown test on that cylinder... the heads are crap and are know for cracking between the valve seats causing a similar problem as you describe.
