3.9 engine ticking noise - help
Hi
I was getting terrible gas mileage (about 8 mpg) with my 3.9, and then I got a diagnostic code about a cylinder #3 misfire. I gave the engine a tuneup and replaced the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. I test drove it for a while. My gas mileage is much better now (probably about 12-14 mpg)
Anyway, I'm pleased with the improved gas mileage, but now my engine makes a noticeable "ticking" noise. It appears to be coming from fuel injectors or valve tappets under the valve cover. I used a stethescope and it's coming from "both" sides of the engine. The engine runs very good, but makes this ticking noise. Oil level is good.
Any ideas guys? The noise is bothering me.

How long since the oil and filter were changed?
What kind and weight oil is in there?
Double check that the plugs are tight by using a 5/8" regular deep socket instead of a spark plug socket. Sometimes SP sockets bind up inside of the heat shields that surround the plugs and the plug doesn't get tightened, so they leak.
