Default New gUy here with a dumb question

Hello, I just got myself a 1992 ram 250 Van Mark 3, and I was wondering if the dome lights are suppose to come on when you open the drivers side door ? If I open any other doors they come on, but not the driver's side.

Yes the dome lights are supposed to come on. The driver's door switch must be broken.

There should be a small button, on the door jam that springs open that turns that light on when you open the door, and when you close it, it turns it off. Its an old vehicle, so having that as a problem is pretty minor, but its nice to have everything working.

Look at the other doors, and press it in and out.

It might not even be there, only a hole or perhaps the guy took it off and bondo'd it.

Button can be on the back door jam, or the hinge side.

Remove the switch and see if it has an extra wire on it. The driver's door circuitry is different than the other doors, because it not only turns the dome light on, but it turns on the key in ignition buzzer. If the light and buzzer circuits or tied together, then the buzzer would sound when any door was open.

The other alternatives is there is either a couple of isolation diodes on the driver's door switch circuit, or a relay. You might have to start tracing to find either one.
