1991 B350 rear drum removal
I just sold my van ad I agreed to do the rear drums and shoes for the guy... problem is, I have never done the brakes on a dodge let alone a 1 tone.
Does anyone have a how-to or a diagram as to how to get the rear drums off??
I already pulled the axle off the left side... now it appears that I have to remove the HUGE nut...
Help!
Thanks

1991 huh.
If it's like the 2000 B3500 (1 ton), then it's like every other rear drum I've ever worked on. Just bigger
After pulling the wheel off, make sure you remove clip nuts (typically one per wheel) securing the brake drum to wheel studs if it has one. They look like star washers pushed down over the stud to help hold the drum in place. My other comment is that I have often had problems getting the drum off if it's not service regularly. They kinda sieze on there. I take a 5lb sledge and beat the heck out of the drum around the perimeter of it. It may well crack the drum but then it's easy to get off. In those cases, i give up on resurfacing and am just willing to replace the drum if I break it.

Well, I figured it out. I pulled the axles out and then took a 2.5" spindle nut socket to get the large nut off... then I pressed the studs out with a brass dowel.
The drum came right off after that.
Then put it all back together in reverse.
