Computer module
I have a 2001 Ram conversion van with a 5.9 engine. The check engine light has been on for over a week( van drives fine ) and a mechanic says there is no problem code showing ,but that there is no memory? He also said if I keep driving it could cause some other major engine problems. Can someone please give me a better idea of what is going on and some alternative to buying a new computer.
Thanks/Jim

I have never been a fan of new vehicles for teh simple fact, technology costs money.
For a 2001, 5.9L dodge.
Disconnect battery, leave for 10 minutes. Resets the computer.
Plug battery back in.
Drive it, see if the check engine code comes back on.
If it does, could be anything without knowing the code #.
Could be a bad ground, bad battery, to a bad computer.
Check all grounds, try a new battery in there off another one of your vehicles or hit the junk yard and buy a good $30 used battery. As long as the engine aint making any weird sounds, along with the trans and diffs you should be ok.
