I'm thinking troubleshooting the wiring from the relay to the tank. Perhaps some kind of voltage drop or connector problem.

I had a weird electrical problem with the wipers, they only worked when it wasn't raining. turned out where the connector under the dash was mounted had rusted so bad that every time it rained, rust would run down into the connector (just from the condensation) and broke the connection without actually shorting it out. After I removed the fastener from the mounting bracket and just let it hang, the wipers worked even when it rained.

A mechanic once told me with all the extra miles of wiring newer vehicles have today, manufactures had to go to a much smaller gauge just to fit them into the vehicle and cost reasons that they were more prone to failure than the actual part itself. He said more times than not, it is the wiring rather than the part being the troublemaker.

"I'm thinking troubleshooting the wiring from the relay to the tank. Perhaps some kind of voltage drop or connector problem. "

confirmed 12.4 volts at the pump in the tank, 12.4 volts across the connector pins 1 and 4 and 12.4 at the battery.

pin 1 being the ground and 4 coming from the relay.

Gee, could it be 3 bad fuel modules in a row???

All three modules were Airtex E7124M, what are the odds.

It is acting like the wrong pump or wrong fuel regulator, wtf?

any parts guy available that can verify this is the correct module for a 2001 Ram Van 3500 5.9L with a 31 gallon tank??? Two different dealers sold me the same module.

The only option I can think of is exchanging it out for a different manufacture, which would be module #4.

How do I verify I have a 31 gallon tank?

After doing a search on Airtex fuel pumps and reading the frustrated "pos" posts, I have decided to order a Delphi pump and will be in this afternoon.

Yes the 3rd could also be bad and that would make the odds 3 out of 3. I wouldn't go to Vegas if I were you!

I have these two codes:

1388 Auto Shutdown Relay Control Circuit-An open or shorted condition detected in the auto shutdown relay circuit.

1282 Fuel Pump Relay Control Circuit-An open or shorted condition detected in the fuel pump relay control circuit.

I checked the voltage by plugging the test probes of my volt meter into the back side along the wires of the plug connectors 1 and 4 pins while plugged into the fuel pump while engaging the starter and the voltage is showing between 3-4 volts as opposed to 12.4 volts when the plug is disconnected from the fuel pump.

Yes, that sound like you have a bad/corroded connection somewhere between the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump. The contacts in the fuel pump relay itself could also be burnt.

Still no pressure,

connected the fuel pump directly to the battery, started instantly and ran like nothing was wrong.

Do you have at least a 20A or 25A fuse to that direct connection?
