Default Cost Of Travelling Across USA in 2011?

I own a new 1998 Dodge Ram Van 1500.

It only has 31,000 miles on it. It gets the same mileage as it did in 1998.

It has been in stotrage due to my bad health.

Removing my Gallbladder & Thyroid made me better and I am no longer sick.

I must drive my 1998 Dodge Ram Van 1500 miles with new tire and new battery and new A/C compressor 2500 miles from NYC to Phoenix Arizona.

With the national price of gasoline so high, what can I expect to pay in gasoline bills?

My van is in tip top shape now. Good mileage.

Will the price of gasoline drop when I enter the midwest or Arizona?

I am very bad at math and I need help calculating the cost of traveling. Please help me.

About $537.00 in fuel charges.

2500 miles / 14 MPG = 179 gallons
179 gallons X $3 per gallon = $537.00

Current gas price in my part of Texas is 2.82 at no brand stations and 2.90 and major brand stations. So .10 and .15 for the average.

Even at $540 for fuel, it's cheaper than an airline ticket and rental vehicle in AZ.

Are you planning on relocating there and this is your drive out that way?

If you are visiting, is your van a conversion with a fold down bed/sofa to save on hotel cost?

Thank you so very much! I needed to budget my trip which is about 2500 miles.

I want to live there for many years but my health and family came first.

I will be driving my van around, so no rental will be needed.

My nephew Mike wants to come with me across the nation as a road trip which he is welcome to come.

The van will be packed with my personal effects, so we will be sleeping in motels like Quality, Clarion and Rodeway.

My 98 Van has a 6 cyl and get 20 plus miles per gallon. It has over 200,000 on it. I used it in my Horseshoeing business for 6 years and always had 1000 pounds in it. It still got 20 plus MPG. Excellent vehicle. Keep all fluids clean and it should last many many miles for you. Good luck on your journey.
