Fan Clutch noise
2002 ram van 1500, 318.
Hearing alot of noise from the front of the engine, so decided to check the fan clutch. With engine cold, fan has some drag when spun with hand. It seems to have more drag when warmed up. There is some play, not alot, however, the fan, nut, and pulley feel loose, and you can see the assembly move. This doesn't seem normal. Ideas ?
Does anybody make the tool to hold the pulley, or is there another way?
Thanx

I put one on a Land Rover once and the way I loosened the nut was to put a wrench on the nut and whack it with a hammer. If you just try to push on the wrench like you normally would the pulley will want to turn also. It sounds like your clutch fan assembly is shot, I would replace it.
