Default 1995 Ran Van 3500 fuel pump pin outs

Just completed a valve job on this 1995 ram van maxi and now there is not fuel to the fuel rail.
I have pulled the fuel tank and plan on checking the pump I want to apply 12 volts to the proper pins.
There are four and I suspect that two are for the fuel float indicator.
Also, what reading should I expect to see if I place a meter on the fuel harness where the pump plugs in.
I really trying to avoid paying for a complete pump unit as it is 236.00.
Has anyone had luck pulling the unit and cleaning with solvent. I suspect that I will find a large amount of varnish , as the vehicle had been sitting for several years .
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

Robert

Default fuel pump update 1995 maxi van

No Fuel to the fuel rail. Had drain 10 gallons of bad gas and drop the tank. Three straps relased and two wood block allowed me to lower the tank enough to disconnect the electrical and supply lines. But not before releasing the filler and vent hoses.
Unscrewed the fuel module screw ring.and pull out the module. Sure enough, gummed with varnish. I was able to use B-12 to soften the varnish enough to free up the pump, but because the polyester strainer was so hard, it broke up when I tried to clean it. Whole canister now trash.
New Carter $358.00 pump for the parts store. NOT... Locate what was purported to be a replacement 1994/5 for 50.00 plus shipping off ebay. It looked good in the photo and 50.00 was little enough to take a chance. While waiting I used about half gallon of lacquer thinner to clean off the excessive gum and sludge in the bottom and side of the fuel tank. It arrive very soon and I set about preparing it for install.

I was pleased at the condition of the new part, but discovered it to be about one inch too tall to fit my tank. Turns out there is a 38 gallon version option for this vehicle . What to do. Upon examination, I could remove the three slider screws and re drill the holes and within 30 minutes I was able to move the top piece down enough to allow the unit to fit into my tank.
Had to remove the pressure regulator and filter to change out the a couple of top parts from the original unit, but in about 1.5 hours I had the job completed and ready for reinstall.
The install took about an hour and with fresh fuel, I turned the switch a couple of times and presto I had the engine running.
Now to other issues. Later.
