Leak in EVAP system
I have a 2003 Ram Van 1500 with a V6. The check engine light came on this morning so I stopped at the local Advance Auto on my way home from work and got them to plug their scanner into it. It showed generic scan tool code P0442. My Haynes manual says the EVAP leak monitor has detected a small leak. Here's my questions.
Where is the leak monitor and what does it look like?
What's the best place to start looking for the leak?
I've already replaced the gas cap.
Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!!!

This leak can be any where from the gas tank to the evaporative canister to the intake manifold. Look under the driver side behind the front tire wheel well and see if all the connection to the canister are in good shape. Also look to see if the canister itself looks to have a crack in it, if so replace it. Otherwise check all the vacuum hoses between the tank and the canister and from it to the intake manifold. You may find that the evaporative cycle switch may have a leak in it. Not sure what the sensor itself looks like. On some vehicles it is located near the fuel filler neck or just above the fuel tank.
