Have you looked to see if a dual-range differential is available? This would essentially double the number of gears you currently have. Properly geared you could have good towing power and some great overdrive ratios.

Why CNG? I am not sure that CNG gets better mileage than 87 octane fuel. And would maybe a Sprinter with a diesel power plant get any better mpg? I have heard that they can get low to mid 20's.

You're right, Sprinters do get that good of mileage. However I'd have to pay $4.20/gal for diesel. My 14mpg at $1.27/gal is a much better deal.

I haven't. I thought those were reserved for the heavy duty trucks? I'll have to look.

In a similar vein is the Gear Vendors unit. Given the cost, though, it wouldn't make financial sense.
