95 dodge b1500 v6 211,000 miles. this shop van used mainly around town has a tranny acting up. first thing in a.m. start and drive seems to be stuck in first gear for several blocks.( speed limit is 25 leaving shop) after several hours of driving and you leave the shop it runs smooth, seems to shift right into second engine doesnt rev high. second thing (three speed tranny no OD) as soon as van gets to 48 mph. it acts like it shifts and then seems to bog down. (no power) and in a minute or two the van takes off to 55+ mph. there is no over drive in this thing and the column says 1 2 D. makes it real hard to drive the speed limit around town. tranny fluid seems fine level wise. (warm in neutral). it is redish color and does not smell burnt, does not appear to be real cloudy or have any grit to it. how do i figure out what type of tranny i have? also any thoughts changing fluid and filter VS just having it flushed?
