brakes sticking
I have a ram 2500 van 1996 v6, today when parking i just lightly touched the brake pedal and the brakes locked solid. on stabbing the pedal hard several times they would release only to freeze again tried moving both back and forward but same result, then all went back to normal and has not happend again as of last 400 miles. Am at present driving 18000 mile journey so a little concerned. had new rotors and pads 4000 miles ago..thanks
Had this happen earlier in the year too.
The problem was the brake hoses. Replace the two brake hoses up front.
They are very tricky to do. Do NOT allow the fitting to twist. Soak the fittings first in Seafoam Deep Creep. It was the only stuff that worked. PB Blaster had no effect.
When removing the hose bracket from the frame, the dumb bolt will always snap the head off. Don't worry. The replacement hose with braket has a secondary hole. Align that up to the frame position of the old braket location and drill a new hole in the frame. Then use some sheet metal screw to anchor the new bracket. The job takes about a careful hour or so per side by being careful. Then about 10 mins each side to bleed each side with two people. Other than the fitting to the junction blocks being careful, jacking up the van and taking off the wheels takes time too.
Hope this helps some. Read the Hayes book for Dodge Ram Vans first.
